Ingredients

Cocktail Base
  • 2 oz White Rum or Blanco Tequila
  • 3 oz Fresh Orange Juice strained
  • 1 oz Passionfruit Juice
  • 0.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.75 oz Grenadine Syrup
  • 1 cup Ice crushed or cubed
Garnish
  • 1 slice Half orange wheel
  • 2 slices Thin lime wheels
  • 2 pieces Edible flowers e.g., Alstroemeria
  • 1 sprig Fresh mint

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Ribbed Rocks Glass
  • Bar Spoon
  • Jigger

Method

  1. Fill a ribbed rocks glass completely with crushed or cubed ice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker filled with a handful of ice, combine the white rum, orange juice, passionfruit juice, and lime juice.
  3. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well chilled and slightly frothy.
  4. Strain the chilled mixture into your prepared serving glass over the ice.
  5. Slowly pour the grenadine syrup down the inside edge of the glass (or down the spiral of a bar spoon). Allow it to sink to the bottom.
  6. Let the drink sit undisturbed for 30-60 seconds to allow the sunrise gradient effect to form.
  7. Garnish lavishly with the half orange wheel, lime wheels, edible flowers, and a sprig of fresh mint. Insert a metal straw and serve immediately.

Notes

To make this a mocktail, simply omit the rum and add 1 oz coconut water and 1 oz sparkling water instead.
