Smoky Chipotle Garlic Sauce

A creamy, spicy, and smoky sauce made with chipotle peppers and sour cream. Perfect for tacos, burgers, and dipping.

Ingredients
  

Sauce Base
  • 1 cup sour cream full fat preferred
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 2-3 chipotle peppers in adobo canned
  • 1 tbsp adobo sauce from the chipotle can
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1 tbsp lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp cumin ground
  • 0.5 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper ground

Equipment

  • Blender or Food Processor
  • Spatula

Method
 

  1. Place chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, garlic cloves, lime juice, and spices into a blender or food processor.
  2. Pulse until the peppers and garlic are broken down into a rough paste.
  3. Add the sour cream and mayonnaise to the blender.
  4. Blend on high until the sauce is completely smooth and a consistent orange color.
  5. Taste and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
  6. Transfer to a jar and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap sour cream for Greek yogurt. Add honey for a sweet kick.
