Ingredients

Mocktail Base (Blue Ocean)
  • 6-8 oz lemon-lime soda chilled
  • 1 oz blue curaçao syrup non-alcoholic, or blue fruit punch
Cocktail Base (Adult Option)
  • 1.5 oz coconut rum or vodka
  • 1 oz blue curaçao liqueur
  • 4 oz lemon-lime soda chilled
The Shark Attack Details
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup
  • 2-3 pieces gummy sharks
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Equipment

  • Clear plastic cups
  • Food-safe plastic syringes

Method

  1. Prepare the syringes: Pour grenadine into a small glass. Insert the tip of a food-safe plastic syringe and pull the plunger to fill it with about 0.5 to 1 oz of grenadine. Set aside on a paper towel.
  2. Fill a clear plastic party cup about two-thirds full with ice cubes.
  3. For a mocktail: Pour the non-alcoholic blue curaçao syrup over the ice, then top with lemon-lime soda. Stir gently to combine.
  4. For a cocktail: Pour the rum (or vodka) and blue curaçao liqueur over the ice. Top with lemon-lime soda and stir gently.
  5. Drop 2 to 3 gummy sharks into the blue liquid, wedging them among the ice cubes.
  6. Place one filled grenadine syringe into the cup, plunger side up.
  7. Serve immediately. Instruct guests to push the syringe plunger to release the 'blood' into the blue water before drinking.

Notes

Ensure you are using food-safe plastic syringes (often sold as Jello shot syringes), not medical syringes. Wash them thoroughly before use.
