Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Unfold thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.
- Using a sharp knife, lightly score a border about 1/2 inch from the edge of each square. Use a fork to prick holes (dock) the center square.
- In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square, spreading slightly within the scored border.
- Top the cream cheese with sliced strawberries.
- Brush the outer edges of the pastry with the egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled danishes.
Notes
Ensure puff pastry is cold before baking for maximum puff.
