Ingredients
  

Dog Treat Dough
  • 2.5 cups whole wheat flour or oat flour
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree pure, not pie filling
  • 0.33 cup peanut butter xylitol-free
  • 2 eggs large, divided use
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon optional
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil optional for glaze

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and one egg until smooth.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a stiff dough forms. Knead with hands if necessary.
  5. Take small portions of dough and roll them into sticks/logs about 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches long.
  6. Place on the baking sheet. Optional: Beat the second egg with a little water and brush over the sticks for shine.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes for a softer chew, or up to 40 minutes for a crunchy treat.
  8. Let cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your dog.
