Ingredients

Peach Simple Syrup
  • 4-5 medium fresh peaches sliced, pits removed, unpeeled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
Lemonade Base
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice from about 6-8 large lemons
  • 4-5 cups cold filtered water for diluting
  • 1 batch ice cubes for serving
  • 1 handful fresh peach slices for garnish

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Citrus Juicer
  • Large glass pitcher

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced fresh peaches, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, gently mashing the peaches as they soften to release their juices.
  3. Remove from heat, cover, and let the peach mixture steep for 20-30 minutes to deepen the flavor.
  4. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing the peach pulp to extract all the sweet syrup. Discard the pulp and let the syrup cool.
  5. In a large glass pitcher, combine the cooled peach simple syrup with the 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  6. Add 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir well. Taste, and add the 5th cup of water if you prefer a less sweet lemonade.
  7. Refrigerate until cold. Serve in mason jars filled with ice, garnished with fresh peach slices.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days without ice in the pitcher to prevent watering down. Frozen peaches can easily be substituted for fresh to make the simple syrup.
