Ingredients

Burger Bowl Base
  • 1.5 lbs lean ground beef 90/10 or 93/7
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese freshly shredded
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce chopped
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 medium red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup red cabbage shredded
  • 1 large avocado sliced (optional)
Burger Sauce
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sugar-free ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp dill pickle relish
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • Meal Prep Containers

Method

  1. Prepare the Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sugar-free ketchup, mustard, relish, vinegar, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Prepare Vegetables: Wash and thoroughly dry the lettuce. Chop the lettuce, halve the tomatoes, thinly slice the red onion, and shred the cabbage.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break it apart as it cooks.
  4. Season: Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper over the beef. Cook until deeply browned and fully cooked through (about 7-10 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.
  5. Melt Cheese: Reduce heat to low. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the cooked beef. Cover with a lid for 1-2 minutes until cheese is completely melted. Remove from heat.
  6. Assemble: In serving bowls or meal prep containers, lay down a generous bed of chopped lettuce. Add tomatoes, red onion, red cabbage, and avocado slices around the edges.
  7. Top and Serve: Scoop the hot cheesy beef mixture into the center of the bowls. Drizzle generously with the prepared burger sauce and enjoy immediately, or store components separately for meal prep.

Notes

For meal prep, store the wet/hot ingredients (meat, sauce, tomatoes) separately from the dry/crisp ingredients (lettuce, cabbage) to prevent sogginess. Reheat meat before assembling.
