Method
- Thoroughly pat the pineapple chunks dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Evenly spread softened butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a cold skillet. Layer with half of the grated cheeses.
- Add the sliced ham, dried pineapple chunks, and spinach leaves. Top with the remaining grated cheese.
- Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side facing up.
- Turn the heat to medium-low. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the bottom bread is golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the sandwich using a wide spatula. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is completely melted.
- Remove from the pan, let it rest for 1 minute, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.
Notes
If the cheese is not melting fast enough, place a pot lid over the sandwich in the skillet for a minute to trap the heat.
