Ingredients

Chicken
  • 1.5 lbs chicken breasts boneless, skinless (or thighs)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly cracked
Glaze
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet (Cast iron preferred)
  • Meat Mallet
  • Tongs
  • Measuring Cups

Method

  1. Pat chicken breasts dry and pound to even thickness if necessary. Season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (165°F). Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the same skillet and scrape up browned bits.
  4. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in brown sugar and soy sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until sugar dissolves and sauce slightly thickens.
  6. Return chicken to the pan, turning to coat in the glaze. Simmer for 1 minute to heat through.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve with rice and steamed broccoli for a complete meal.
