Method
- Sort all your candies by color and shape into separate bowls to make the assembly process organized and quick.
- Dip your fingers in a bowl of cold water and lightly rub the top two-thirds of a wooden bamboo skewer to prevent the gummies from sticking to the dry wood.
- Thread a thick, sturdy gummy or marshmallow onto the bottom of the skewer, leaving a 2 to 3-inch handle of bare wood at the base.
- For the blue ocean skewers, alternate threading blue textured spheres, teal whales, rolled-up sour belts, and blue sharks.
- For the yellow beach skewers, alternate threading yellow gummy stars, peach rings, white spheres, and orange sugar drops.
- Use a damp cloth to wipe the sharp tip of the skewer clean after sliding the candies on.
- Ensure the final candy securely covers the sharp point at the top of the skewer.
- Place the completed skewers upright in a display jar or package them individually in clear cellophane bags tied with ribbon.
Notes
Do not store finished candy skewers in the refrigerator, as the condensation will make the gummies melt and become slimy. Store in a cool, dry place.
