- In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Lay out wonton wrappers. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center and top with a piece of strawberry.
- Brush edges of wrapper with egg wash. Bring corners together and seal tightly to form a pouch or triangle.
- Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry wontons in small batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
- For the sauce: Simmer strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan until thickened.
- Serve warm wontons with strawberry dipping sauce.
Notes
Ensure wrappers are sealed completely to prevent filling from leaking into the oil.
