French Toast
  • 8 slices brioche or thick bread

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter for frying

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar for dusting
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup warmed

Equipment

  • Hand mixer

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the center of 4 slices of bread. Top with remaining bread slices to make sandwiches.
  3. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture for 5-10 seconds per side, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Place in hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve immediately topped with strawberries, powdered sugar, and warm syrup.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps.
