Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 fillets salmon center cut, skin on or off
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning salt-free or regular
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Honey Butter Glaze
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
Garnish
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 lemon cut into wedges

Equipment

  • Cast iron skillet or large frying pan
  • Fish spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Pat salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season generously all over with Cajun seasoning, pressing the spices into the flesh.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Place salmon in the skillet flesh-side down. Sear undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until a dark crust forms.
  4. Carefully flip the salmon using a fish spatula. Reduce heat to medium-low.
  5. Push salmon to one side of the pan. On the empty side, add butter, minced garlic, and honey. Stir until melted and bubbly (about 1 minute).
  6. Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to constantly baste the salmon with the bubbling honey butter sauce for 1-2 minutes until cooked to your liking.
  7. Remove from heat. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and black sesame seeds. Serve immediately with pan sauce spooned over top and lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

If your Cajun seasoning contains salt, avoid adding extra salt. If it is salt-free, add 1/2 tsp of kosher salt when seasoning the fish.
