Best Oreo Rice Krispie Treats

Thick, gooey, and crispy rice cereal treats packed with crushed Oreo cookies and extra marshmallows. The ultimate no-bake cookies and cream dessert.

Ingredients
  

Base
  • 0.5 cup salted butter
  • 16 oz mini marshmallows divided use (save 2 cups for end)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Mix-ins & Topping
  • 20 cookies Oreo cookies roughly chopped/crushed
  • 1 cup Mini Oreos for topping (optional)

Equipment

  • Large Pot or Dutch Oven
  • 9x9 Baking Pan
  • Spatula
  • Parchment paper

Method
 

  1. Line a 9x9 inch square baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease with butter.
  2. In a large pot over low heat, melt the salted butter completely.
  3. Add all but 2 cups of the mini marshmallows to the pot. Stir constantly until melted and smooth. Remove from heat immediately.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the pot and fold until coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Fold in the crushed Oreo cookies and the remaining 2 cups of fresh mini marshmallows.
  7. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Gently press into an even layer using a greased spatula or wet hands (do not pack tightly).
  8. Immediately top with Mini Oreos and extra marshmallows while warm.
  9. Allow to set at room temperature for 30 minutes before slicing into squares.

Notes

Do not store in the fridge, as they will become hard.
